Erik Ten Hag might recall Manchester United loanee as the team struggles with injuries.
According to Express, Erik ten Hag could soon recall Charlie McNeill back to Manchester United. The 20-year-old has been on loan at Stevenage FC where he has seen quite a lot of struggle for first-team action.
The player has not even featured for the team at all since his last outing which came in September. While it’s understandable that the Stevenage chief doesn’t want to take any risks, he should not be wasting such a good talent.
Mcneill was the first Manchester United academy graduate to be given a chance under Ten Hag. At the time this looked like a sign of great things to come but unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case.
Now that the team is struggling to cope with all the injuries McNeill could soon be back at Old Trafford. Currently, the only striker that the Dutchman has is Rasmus Hojlund.
Ten Hag definitely needs someone to serve as a backup striker. But, it is more likely that McNeill will come back to the club and will immediately be sent out on loan again.
At this stage, we cannot be sure whether the Dutchman has enough faith in the English striker to consider him as a backup for Hojlund. Seeing how McNeill has struggled to adjust to the big leagues he might need more time in the oven.
