Manchester United could utilise Antony in a swap deal for ex-Real Madrid winger

Manchester United’s Antony could soon be departing from Old Trafford. Disappointing performance upon disappointing performance by the Brazilian has prompted the club to take action.

Over 19 appearances this season Antony has failed to make any impact (transfermarkt). His stats from the season make it look like he’s just out there running around for 90 minutes.

Manchester United doled out £85m for the former Ajax man and he has not been able to justify his price tag. Spanish publication AS reports that the Red Devils could look to swap him for Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo.

22-year-old Kubo has been phenomenal for the Spanish club this season. Over 24 appearances he has smashed in six goals and has picked up four assists (transfermarkt). This kind of contribution could do wonders for Manchester United.

However, it still stands to be seen why Real Sociedad would accept a swap deal for Antony. Kubo has been phenomenal and Antony has been nothing but disappointing. Straight-up swapping the two doesn’t make sense.

If Manchester United are truly serious about bringing the Japanese national to Old Trafford they should explore other ways to make a deal happen. While a swap for Antony is destined to fail, swapping Jadon Sancho for Kubo could bear fruit for the Red Devils.
