Former Manchester United star could potentially head to La Liga after a nightmare spell in Turkey

Former Manchester United star Eric Bailly may have found an exit route through La Liga, says Fabrizio Romano. Bailly was recently axed from Besiktas following his nightmare spell with the team.

The 29-year-old played 113 games for the Red Devils (transfermarkt). His spell at Old Trafford was somewhat lukewarm as he never could display his full potential with the squad.

He finally found a chance to revive his career after Manchester United allowed him to leave for free in September. But, his new home Besiktas wasn’t as warm as he had hoped it would be.

Due to ongoing injury struggles, Bailly only managed to make eight appearances for the Turkish side. Moreover, he was abruptly axed from the first team following their 3-1 defeat to Fenerbahce.

Besiktas stated that the player was cut due to incompatibility with the team and poor performance. However, against all odds, Bailly could be getting another chance at redemption.

There has been talk going around that the Ivorian could soon be headed to La Liga. Spanish side Villareal has expressed their interest in the player and are looking to get a deal done in January.

Bailly would be perfect for Villareal as the team is currently in the market for a centre-back. However, there have been no concrete details yet as talks are still at a very early stage.

An exit to La Liga could be all the player needs to show his mettle. After a string of embarrassing spells, a comeback now seems to be on the board for Eric Bailly.
