David Ornstein says Manchester United want a centre-back and a striker in January but their targets must meet a minimum of 1 of 3 conditions
According to the Athletic (paid subscription), David Ornstein believes Manchester United’s transfer window targets will have to meet at least 1 of 3 conditions. The Red Devils are currently in the market for a striker and a centre-back.
The Old Trafford hierarchy has spent around £410.9 million since the arrival of Erik ten Hag, as stated by CNN. To make sure that they don’t violate any financial fair play policies their hands will be somewhat tied in January.
After taking this into account, Ornstein believes Manchester United’s transfer targets will have to meet one of three conditions. A deal will only be struck if it is low-cost, on loan or a product of exits.
If Manchester United manage to offload Anthony Martial it will help bring in some money for them. This can be used to acquire new talent in January. However, the priority at this point should be Jadon Sancho.
Getting a deal done for the 23-year-old forward will give the Red Devils a lot of financial freedom to pursue other targets. Moreover, we might even see Radu Dragusin being signed for a lucrative amount if that happens.
The team is also reportedly looking to offload Raphael Varane to bring in a new right-sided centre-back. However, Varane’s masterclass against Liverpool might be enough to make them reconsider.
