Jose Mourinho claims that players that he wanted gone during his time at Old Trafford are still among the Manchester United ranks
During his time as the Manchester United chief, Jose Mourinho was often outspoken about his grievances. He revealed that he asked the team to get rid of a few players and staff members who were obstacles to success.
Much to his surprise, Mourinho has since been sacked by the Old Trafford hierarchy. Moreover, the people he wanted gone are still having a grand time with the club.
The Portuguese coach was sacked five whole years ago. Although it might sting a little it is surely a hilarious situation that the 60-year-old has found himself in.
Let’s have a look at what the former Manchester United coach had to say about the entire ordeal. (h/t Eurosport)
“There are still people in that club, and when I say people I mean some players but also some other people that are not players, that are still there when I told [United] after two months: ‘With these people, you are never going to do it.’ And they are still there,” he said.
Whether Mourinho is right about these ‘people’ that he wants gone is still yet to be seen. However, fans heavily doubt him since others before him like the great Sir Alex Ferguson have produced better results during more trying times.
During his time in charge, Mourinho oversaw 144 matches for Manchester United. He only managed to win 84 of those games. Consequently, he was axed after 900 days at the helm (transfermarkt).
A Europa League win and The Carabao Cup were Mourinho’s only two achievements during his 900-day stint at Manchester United.
Mourinho ended his statement by showing appreciation for the Manchester United fans. He believes fans appreciate him because they know that he gave it his all for the Old Trafford squad.

The only silverware that Manchester United have enjoyed since Mourinho’s departure is the Carabao Cup that Ten Hag helped them win earlier this year.
If the results don’t change, the Dutchman might end up meeting the same fate as Jose Mourinho. Ten Hag will be desperately gunning for a win as Manchester United take on West Ham on Saturday.
