Manchester United star Andre Onana silences the haters as stat vs Liverpool showcases his mettle and skill
Andre Onana was pivotal in Sunday’s draw against Liverpool. If it wasn’t for the Cameroonian goalkeeper a few of The Reds’ eight shots on target could have found the back of the net.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper arrived at Old Trafford in 2023 for €50m. Upon his arrival, he was expected to fill in the shoes of Manchester United’s previous goalkeeper David De Gea. A tall task for anyone.
Ever since his journey with Manchester United began Onana has struggled to display his best form. He has been heavily criticized and often blamed for the Red Devils’ ongoing struggles this season.
Well, it all changed on Sunday. After making eight excellent saves against Liverpool Onana finally broke through his mould and proved himself capable of following in the footsteps of club legend De Gea.
Moreover, the Cameroonian has also joined Jordan Pickford both of these players have managed to keep six clean sheets, the most of any goalkeeper in the Premier League this season. (h/t Premier League)
Onana has successfully blocked out the noise as he begins to prove his worth to his doubters. If he can keep this up, then he will no doubt prove to be an irreplaceable asset for the Old Trafford squad.
