Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo might not be a part of the team which might cause United to look for alternatives
According to TEAMtalk (h/t Manchester Evening News), there are indications that Manchester United attacker Amad Diallo could be heading to Sunderland FC due to stiff competition for securing a spot in the starting XI. However, recognizing Diallo’s potential, he must play regularly to refine his skills and, more importantly, build confidence.
Diallo is nearing a return to the field after recovering from a knee injury sustained during a pre-season friendly against Arsenal on 22nd July. The 21-year-old is expected to receive playing time from manager Erik ten Hag before the closure of the January transfer window, albeit it might be a limited opportunity.
Following the resolution of their managerial vacancy, Sunderland aims to focus on potential January acquisitions, with the Ivory Coast international emerging as a primary target. He showcased impressive form during his loan spell there last season, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists in 37 Championship games.
With Jadon Sancho also potentially departing, Manchester United may explore alternative options. The winger, who completed a high-profile transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £73 million, is currently under contract until 2026, with a one-year extension option. Considering the unresolved conflict between Sancho and Ten Hag, loaning the player to a club where he can secure more playing time might alleviate the wage bill.
Upon acquiring Antony for a significant transfer fee, there were high expectations regarding his potential contributions to the team. His debut against Arsenal showcased moments of brilliance, including a goal with his left foot that tested Arsenal’s goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale.
However, over time, Antony seems to be less effective. Given the consistent lack of goals, the club might need to explore a more reliable alternative.
Filling the attacking wings is crucial, especially considering Manchester United’s aggressive style of play. The role of a skilled winger is pivotal in breaking the goal-scoring dry spell.
