Stat reveal that Erik ten Hag and Manchester United have taken a complete U-turn when compared to their previous year.
Ten Hag had a statement season upon his arrival at Manchester United last year. The Dutchman went on to win 62 games with the team while only dropping 12. Moreover, the team finished 3rd in the Premier League.
The Red Devils were in an abysmal state before his arrival. What the Dutchman did at the helm of Manchester United was no small feat, especially when you take into account that his predecessor at the club was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Compared to their form last season, their current campaign has been a disaster for Ten Hag and Manchester United. A simple stat from X (Twitter) showcases the horrendous turn that the club has taken after a successful maiden campaign.
Who is to be blamed for this abysmal state of the club? Is it the players who have been unable to find the back of the net? Is it Ten Hag who hasn’t been able to motivate his players? Or is this the bad decisions of the hierarchy coming back to haunt them?
Well, we can’t pin the blame on a single entity. There are many things wrong with the club right now, the players and management both play a part in it.
Relations between Ten Hag and the Manchester United team might have faltered following the whole Jadon Sancho controversy. The United board has also not done an exemplary job of giving the Dutchman more pieces to play with.
Ten Hag shoulders most of the blame since at the end of the day it is his job to produce results. But, the kind of results that the Dutchman has produced this year have only gone on to hurt the team.
