Scott McTominay helped Manchester United go 12 league games unbeaten against Chelsea for the first time in the club’s history. McTominay scored two goals in the United’s 2-1 victory against the London club at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

The Scotland international scored the opening goal for the Red Devils in the 19th minute of the game. The 26-year-old played a pivotal role in United’s attacking transitions throughout the game as they kept capitalizing on Chelsea’s mistakes.

McTominay scored the winner in the 69th minute through a dominant header from Alejandro Garnacho’s cross. The Scotsman’s late run into the box played a key threat throughout the game as he could’ve had a hattrick.

The Scotland international has been in a prolific goalscoring form for the Red Devils this season. McTominay has enjoyed similar goalscoring performances in the EURO 2024 qualification rounds for his national side.

The 26-year-old earned promotion to the senior team at the age of 20 in the 2016-2017 season under Jose Mourinho. McTominay has played as a defensive midfielder for the senior team while showing his offensive prowess this season.

Football stats-based website Squawka reported that McTominay’s match-winning performance helped United create history, going 12 league games unbeaten against Chelsea. McTominay has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season, contributing six goals and an assist.

United manager Erik ten Hag planned on selling McTominay at the right price to raise funds for future transfers. However, the Scotsman earned his way back into the first team and has been a regular name in the line-up.
