Manchester United and Barcelona are considering a swap exchange between Marcus Rashford and Raphinha during the January transfer window
Manchester United are considering a swap deal for Barcelona forward Raphinha involving Marcus Rashford during the January transfer window. United’s attack department has struggled to produce goals in all competitions this season.
Rashford ended last season as the top goal scorer at United but he has struggled to maintain the similar productivity. The 26-year-old is playing his ninth season at the senior level since earning a promotion from the United academy.
The England international faced criticism on many occasions for his inconsistency and lack of overall contribution. Fans and pundits believe that the Englishman becomes a liability in the games when he is unable to score goals.
The 26-year-old lacks the work ethic and determination to track back for his team and help his teammates defensively. He has faced criticism this season for his selfish play on the ball after United partnered him with Rasmus Hojlund.
Hojlund has the pace and abilities to keep up with Rashford and he is currently the main striker at the club. However, Rashford has opted to cut inside and shoot in his typical style rather than provide an assist. The England international has made 18 appearances, contributing only two goals and four assists in all competitions this season.
Fichajes reported that Barcelona are willing to take Rashford in a swap deal that will add Raphinha to the United’s rank. The Red Devils are short on attack department while the players they have are performing poorly.
Raphinha proved himself as a Premier League forward during a successful tenure with Leeds United. The Brazilian’s performances at Leeds earned him the transfer to the Spanish giant, though he is currently a rotational option.
Raphinha has missed six games in all competitions this season due to a red card suspension and a muscle injury. The 26-year-old has played 14 matches for Barca in all competitions, contributing with two goals and four assists.

Rashford earned a lucrative contract for his impressive productivity and all-round display last season. The Red Devils cannot afford to have a player with such a high wage be so inconsistent and unreliable. Whilst, Raphinha can be a good squad player for the Red Devils, they need a more productive answer right now.
