Erik ten Hag confirms Andre Onana is fit enough to start against Everton this Sunday
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag confirms that our goalkeeper Andre Onana is fit to start against Everton this Sunday.
Onana was substituted out of Cameroon’s World Cup qualifying match against Mauritius after 80 minutes, and he did not play in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Libya.
With 18 games played thus far, Onana has started and finished all of United’s games this season. The Reds do, however, have Tom Heaton and summer acquisition Altay Bayindir in reserve. Ten Hag affirmed that our number 24 is resolved and prepared to take on the Toffees following the most recent practice at Carrington.
The Cameroon international has made a number of costly errors this season, and United has conceded 30 goals across all competitions. Their nine defeats out of 18 games this season were largely due to our defensive flaws.
There’s more good news: Luke Shaw, the defender, is healthy enough to travel to the Merseyside team. However, Ten Hag is already going over a list of injuries. The team faces further hurdles as long-term absentees like Lisandro Martínez and Casemiro are not anticipated to return until after Christmas.
Shaw played in our season’s first two games against Wolves and Tottenham, but a muscular injury has kept the left-back out of action for the past three months.
Despite his form issues, Onana is surely an essential member of the Red Devils starting eleven. Although the player hasn’t shown much this season given the amount of money our club splashed, United supporters will be hoping for a speedy recovery and return to form.
