Manchester United and Arsenal are interested in the 20-year-old Marcos Leonardo of Santos
According to The Evening Standard, Manchester United are interested in the 20-year-old Marcos Leonardo of Santos despite knowing that Arsenal who are in a red hot form this season are also interested in getting their hands on the player.
During the current season, Leonardo has scored 21 goals for Santos, a Brazilian team that sold young attackers Angelo Gabriel and Deivid Washington to Chelsea in the summer. Leonardo was also given the opportunity to move on, but he chose to remain in Sao Paulo, something that he is ready to take up now.
Arsenal are considering a move for the youngster to add to their South American contingent led by Gabriel Martinelli. Mikel Arteta is putting together a young core and the Brazilian should fit right in.
Rafaela Pimenta, the player’s agent is adamant that his client would try to experience a top European league by leaving Santos during the January transfer window. Injury halted Rasmus Hojlund’s first few weeks at United, and since joining in the summer, he is yet to score in the Premier League. Another season is off to a pretty dismal start, and United may need a solid backup to Hojlund.
The 20-year-old’s breakthrough season came when he scored 21 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, which piqued the curiosity of clubs throughout Europe for the young Brazilian.
The other natural striker in our group is Anthony Martial. Unfortunately, because of his fitness concerns, the Frenchman cannot be considered dependable. Rashford on the other hand, has also been very underwhelming. Therefore, a backup young striker in place of Hojlund is a must now.

In all honesty, Arsenal has a more competitive team presently than we have, and they are no pushovers in the transfer market. United are far from the favourites and will need to aggressively sell their cause to the youngster.
