Fabrizio Romano asserts “happy” Evan Ferguson remains focused at Brighton amid speculation linking him to Manchester United
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Evan Ferguson remains focused and happy at Brighton despite the interest from Manchester United. The 19-year-old has seen a steep rise in his reputation since featuring more for Brighton and Hove Albion last season.
Ferguson earned a senior team call-up for his international team Ireland last year as his impressive rise continued. Several top clubs, including Chelsea, covet the Irish youngster to strengthen their attacking lineup
United signed Rasmus Hojlund from Serie A side Atalanta during the summer transfer window. The Red Devils had Ferguson as part of their shortlist of forward players before they decided to secure Hojlund.

Nevertheless, United remain keen on Ferguson to bolster their attack further and relieve some pressure from Hojlund. The Danish international has given some impressive performances but failed to score a single goal in the Premier League.
United have lost nine out of 18 games in all competitions this season as their attackers failed to deliver goals. Marcus Rashford is the only attacker for United that has opened his account in the Premier League with one goal.
Speaking to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column, Romano insisted that Ferguson is happy at Brighton and focused on improving. He said:
“Ferguson only recently signed a new contract with Brighton, so he’s fully focused on them. I’m told he’s really happy at Brighton and sees it as the best place for him to develop now, as we’ve seen with so many other top young players there in recent times.”
The 19-year-old stands at 1.83 metres in height and is well-built to hold his ground against any defenders in duels. Ferguson possesses the pace, game intelligence and brilliant off-the-ball movement to exploit spaces and be in threatening positions.
The Ireland international has fantastic finishing ability with composure and technique, using both feet or his head. Ferguson has made 14 appearances in all competitions for Brighton this season while contributing five goals.
Brighton’s fluid and attacking style of play helps the 19-year-old hone his best abilities. Ferguson has more opportunities at Brighton to start and earn more valuable experience than he would at any top club.

United need a goal-scorer to ease up the pressure that is building on Hojlund despite his good overall performances. The Red Devils would be facing a strenuous negotiation even if Ferguson was eager to join them. Brighton have earned the reputation of being a hard negotiator, capable of extracting high value for their assets.
