Manchester United seem reluctant to sell Jadon Sancho for a low transfer fee to Borussia Dortmund

According to ESPN, Manchester United are reluctant to sell their winger Jadon Sancho to his former club Borussia Dortmund in the upcoming transfer window. It is possible that some of the teams would have preferred a reduced-fee arrangement. Now, though, it appears Manchester United are unwilling to take that route.

After a public argument with manager Erik ten Hag, the England attacker was kicked out of the first team and United are considering offers for him. Juventus and Borussia Dortmund have expressed interest in Sancho, who hasn’t played since August, but United are eager to maximize their profit margin on his departure.

Although United haven’t ruled out signing a temporary agreement, they would prefer a sizable wage contribution and, ideally, a loan fee. Sancho, who joined from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £73 million, has a contract that runs until 2026 with a one-year option.

And there’s the scenario of the takeover. The appointment of Sir Jim Ratcliffe might also bring about a change in the running of the club and a new take on Sancho’s particular situation. Eventually, it will be the decision of Ratcliffe and his team that will determine whether they are to go ahead with this offer. This might leave them with two options; either to sack the manager or the player at large.

Although United haven’t completely ruled out a loan move, they do want a large portion of his pay in addition to, in the best-case scenario, a loan fee.

Even though other teams are interested in Sancho, his high cost and sizable contract may be a significant deterrent.

The club will suffer a great loss if Sancho leaves. But let’s hope that this situation alters and things return to normal. That would be fantastic given the former Borussia player can provide United the attacking spark they need.
