Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag gave an injury update on Denmark duo Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag gave an update for Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen after an injury scare. United beat Luton Town 1-0 in the Premier League game at Old Trafford which saw the duo substituted for injury.
During the first half, Eriksen had an awkward fall, and although seen holding his knee, he attempted to continue. However, Ten Hag substituted the Danish midfielder for Mason Mount just before the halftime break.
On the other hand, Hojlund went down twice in the second half while holding his hamstring. In the 79th minute, Anthony Martial replaced the 20-year-old after he tried to continue for a few minutes.
To the reporter (h/t The Athletic), Ten Hag mentioned the need for further assessment before drawing any conclusions about both players. He said:
“In this moment I can’t tell you anything about it [Hojlund’s injury] because I don’t know. We do an assessment but have to wait for 24 hours to see what is the conclusion. Give them, the medical [team], 24 hours to see what is the problem, if there is a problem. [Eriksen] slipped but it is the same. We have to do an assessment, set a diagnosis and then the conclusion. Then we will know where we are”
United have faced a severe injury crisis that has caused instability and problems in Ten Hag’s plan for this season. The Red Devils are currently missing Jonny Evans, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, and Tyrell Malacia with long-term injuries.
United are currently facing a tormenting season with nine losses from 18 matches in all competitions. Ten Hag has struggled to play particular tactics due to shuffling in the starting eleven with injuries and poor forms.
Both Eriksen and Hojlund are important first-team players for Ten Hag and have started featured for the team. Eriksen has been the keep playmaker from the deep position and above the likes of Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount.
Whereas, Hojlund is the primary striker for the Red Devils as the club is already short on attacking options. Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are the only two available options for Ten Hag, both players have been inconsistent.
