Hojlund explained in the post-match interview (h/t Manchester Evening News) that Ten Hag has the backing of the dressing room. He said:

“A really good coach. He cares about every single detail, and he helps me a lot, gives me a lot of confidence and supports me. I think every player in the dressing room support him. I hope it is just a matter of time (before United turn their season around).”

United have lost nine of the 17 games in all competitions this season as their season continues to get worse. Ten Hag has applied several approaches this season but the Red Devils continued to struggle to find balance and cohesion.

The Dutchman’s team conceded 30 goals and only managed to score 24 so far this season. However, new strategies deployed by Ten Hag against Copenhagen worked effectively until Marcus Rashford’s sending-off disrupted the game.

The Red Devils took a two-goal lead within half an hour after a brilliant build-up that led to Hojlund’s tap-in. However, the red card changed the game completely as Copenhagen scored two of their own goals before halftime.

The United boss used a 4-2-4 formation with rigidity which gave each player a specific responsibility and role. The structure allowed players like Bruno Fernandes to play in their most preferential position and impact the game accordingly.
