Brighton & Hove Albion wonderkid Evan Ferguson reveals being a Manchester United fan growing up
Evan Ferguson is one of the hottest prospects going around in English football and his performances for Brighton & Hove Albion have caught the eye of many top clubs in England including the likes of Manchester United.
Ferguson has been scoring goals for fun in a well-functioning Brighton team under Roberto de Zerbi and his performances show that he indeed is a very special player. It is only a matter of time before he makes the move to a big club.
As much as Manchester United would want to sign someone like Ferguson, right now it might be difficult considering the sporting level we find ourselves at. The striker might not consider a move to United as an upgrade over Brighton.
However, it appears that Evan Ferguson was a huge Manchester United fan whilst growing up. That’s what he said in a recent interview where he also went on to reveal who his idols were. A Red Devil will be happy to hear it.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, here is what Ferguson had to say about his childhood and his Manchester United affinity
“You look at one thing that, say, Harry Kane, does, like the way he has such a quick touch and finish. You look at their different characteristics and see what suits you. I supported (Manchester) United as a boy. You had the Rooneys, the Berbatovs and obviously Danny Welbeck. They’ve always had a good thing going with the striker.”
With the talent that Ferguson possesses, he might be headed to a top club in the near future. Whether United will make a move for him will depend on how they are positioned from a sporting perspective at that time.
The fact that he had a liking for us could help tilt the scales in our favour only if we are a top team by then. Brighton are sure to demand a huge fee to part ways with their star striker and we need to be ready if we are looking at him.
At the moment, a move for him looks extremely unrealistic. However, United are someone who are never going to back down from a fight. They are going to try and ensure that they somehow try and get him.
