Former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp predicted a Manchester United win against Luton Town in Saturday’s Premier League showdown.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp shared his confidence in Manchester United to win against Luton Town on Saturday. United faces Luton in the Premier League clash at Old Trafford after a heartbreaking Champions League loss to FC Copenhagen.

The Red Devils lost 4-3 to Copenhagen as they currently lie last in the Champions League Group A table. United dominated the first half hour of the game and scored two goals until Marcus Rashford received a red card.

The game changed in favour of the hosts as the Danish side equalized before halftime. However, United fought back and scored a third goal through Bruno Fernandes’ penalty but conceded two late goals.

Redknapp told Football Betting (h/t Manchester Evening News) that United can win against Luton, judging by their midweek performance. He said:

“What a massive game this is for Man United, who’d have thought it? The performance against Copenhagen was actually decent, I thought a few of those decisions were harsh. There’s going to be a lot of pressure on them to get the win here and to start turning their season around. Luton are surprising a few sides this season but going to Old Trafford is a different challenge. I’ve got to pick United.”

The Red Devils have shown defensive weaknesses, conceding 30 goals while scoring 24 in all competitions this season. The Manchester giants have lost nine out of their 17 games as their season turmoil continues.

United showcased their best form in the initial 30 minutes as manager Erik ten Hag employed a strategic 4-2-4 formation. Ten Hag deployed Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay in midfield as Fernandes played close to Rasmus Hojlund as an advanced midfielder.

Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford, the wide forwards, played wider instead of their usual inside forward role. The strategy allowed United to stretch the opposition in width and leave spaces in the middle for Hojlund to exploit. The Red Devil’s main creative outlet, Fernandes, received more time on the ball to do some damage.

Some critics questioned Ten Hag‘s departure from his successful Ajax philosophy, but he has adapted strategies to suit the squad’s strengths. Nevertheless, the 53-year-old manager has recruited players based on his preferences with full backing from the United heirarchy.

United will face Luton Town in the Premier League before the November international break. The Old Trafford supporters hope for a reason to feel optimistic before the hiatus.
