According to the Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are increasingly interested in Brondby midfielder Nicolai Vallys.

Since United are deficient in that area and the Dane has already scored six goals this season, it is somewhat understandable why a transfer might make sense. The Red Devils would not be the only English teams pursuing the goal; Southampton and Aston Villa are also eager and continue to keep tabs.

The club have landed Danish stars of late with Christian Eriksen joining in 2022 and Rasmus Hojlund following suit in 2023. Whether Vallys will join the duo at Old Trafford in 2024 remains to be seen.

Vallys made his international debut for Denmark in a September Euro 2024 qualifier against San Marino. He is certainly a player to watch out for and at 27 is in the prime of his career.

With six goals and one assist in 12 games in the Danish top division this season, Vallys has made a major contribution to Brondby’s campaign. Thanks to his performances, the Danish giants are now only one point behind leaders Copenhagen in the league rankings.

The Brondby manager isn’t worried about losing his main playmaker just yet, as Vallys signed a deal last summer that keeps him committed until 2026 after leaving Silkeborg. Given that Vallys has only played in Denmark, it would be surprising to see United pay a high price for a player of his age, but Erik ten Hag has startled us in the past.

Looking at the form that our team has right now, we need to win games more than ever. Every player needs to give more than their full potential. Our midfielders Bruno Fernandes, Eriksen, and Scott McTominay all need to be creative to help the strikers find goals.

Vallys is an out-of-the-box option and in some way a rather underwhelming option for a club such as United. But then signing big names hasn’t always worked out for us. As long as the 27-year-old performs, there is no reason why we should not make a move for his services.
