Mother of Kylian Mbappe revealed the World Cup winner used to wear Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United shirt as a kid
Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe used to wear Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United shirt in his childhood, according to his mother. The 24-year-old’s future is currently uncertain as his contract runs out at the end of the season.
The world is eagerly anticipating Kylian Mbappe’s next playing destination, with many top clubs, including United, vying for the France international. Mbappe can have pre-contract talks with foreign clubs from 1st January onwards for a free transfer deal in the summer.
However, PSG are reluctant to lose their most prized star player for free and they’re pushing for a new deal. The French club will face the decision of whether to let Mbappe go for free or sell him in January.
Mbappe’s mother, Fayza Lamari told Football Italia (h/t Mirror) that the French forward used to proudly wear Ronaldo’s United jersey. He said:
“He wore it for training and even to bed. But like so many others: Real Madrid, France, PSG, Manchester United for CR7 [Cristiano Ronaldo].”
The 24-year-old has made 271 appearances for PSG so far and contributed 222 goals and 99 assists. Mbappe has already won numerous major honours but the UEFA Champions League trophy has alluded to the Frenchman.
The Red Devils have struggled with creativity and finishing so far this season. United signed Rasmus Hojlund during the summer transfer window to lead the attack and add some goals to the team.
The Red Devils ranked 8th in the Premier League for the most goals scored last season. Marcus Rashford was the leading goal scorer for the team but he is facing a concerning dry spell this season.
Mbappe can instantly rectify the attacking problem for United as the Frenchman is one of the best in the world.
