Bruno Fernandes claims that Manchester United were buzzing with positivity at half-time against Brentford
Speaking to the club media via the official website, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has given us an understanding of how the team’s passion and resilient mindset motivated us to pull off a historic comeback at Old Trafford against Brentford before the international break.
When Bruno tried to motivate the team at halftime, he reported that the players’ positive attitude never wavered and that he had good support from them in the dressing room. No wonder we snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
Bruno said:
“You know, when you feel that from your team-mates, like the encouragement of ‘keep going, we’re behind you, we’re going to help you, help the ones up front and we’re going to win this’. So these little messages that go through the pitch between every player are really important.”
Trailing 1-0 at the half-time break, United appeared headed for yet another defeat at home, this time to Brentford. Mathias Jensen opened the scoring for the visitors after taking advantage of several defensive blunders and sent a feeble effort past Andre Onana.
Scott McTominay entered the game in the 87th minute with Erik ten Hag’s team trailing by a goal, but the midfielder turned the tide of the match by scoring twice in the dying minutes of the match. The Red Devils didn’t exactly play at their best, but their fighting spirit kept the game alive and saw them through in the end.
Fernandes persisted in continuously applying pressure to the Bees’ defence with a few risky balls into the box. Furthermore, seasoned defender Jonny Evans played a crucial role in helping his club advance in addition to the Portuguese international.
A comeback appeared improbable despite the team’s improved play in the second half and persistent pressure on Brentford. After making tactical adjustments, manager Erik ten Hag revealed the team’s deep “connection” and attitude of perseverance in the face of adversity.
