Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes wins Premier League Goal of the Month award for September
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has made it a habit of scoring spectacular goals and the Premier League was treated to just one such moment in the 1-0 win over Burnley in September.
The Red Devils’ skipper struck home a sweet volley to secure the three points for the visitors at Turf Moor that night. Fernandes made an excellent run behind the Clarets’ defence before striking the ball from Jonny Evans’ long pass. It is certainly a worthy winner of the Premier League monthly gong.
The 29-year-old took over the armband from Harry Maguire this summer and is quickly emerging as one of the most reliable players on the field. His highlight reel at Old Trafford has so far been excellent and the strike against Burnley is merely the latest addition.

As confirmed by the club’s official website, this is the third time that Fernandes has taken home the award for the Premier League Goal of the Month. It puts him on level with Luton Town’s Andros Townsend on three wins each, the most of any player in top-flight history.
Fernandes first experienced joy in this award category when he took home the gong for his June 2020 strike against Brighton & Hove Albion. He won it for a second time in February 2021 for an exquisite chip against Everton.
Given that he is 29 and unlikely to leave Old Trafford anytime soon, it is a fair bet to claim that Fernandes is likely to break the record sooner than later. The next win will make him peerless as far as spectacular strikes go in the Premier League era.
The win takes the United skipper ahead of illustrious rivals like Mohamed Salah, Kevin de Bruyne and Son Heung-min. Fernandes knows how to score a goal and make it look good alright.
Manchester United return to action at home against Sheffield United on 21st October. Fernandes will have an opportunity to stake a claim for the award once again when he takes to the field that night.
