Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund thanks fans after comeback victory against Brentford
Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund conveyed his thanks to the Old Trafford loyalists for driving the club towards a brilliant comeback.
United defeated Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford during the Premier League game on Saturday. The visitors took a shocking lead in the 26th minute of the game and kept their defence fortified.
The Red Devils were looking at the third consecutive defeat at Old Trafford when the substitute Scott McTominay scored twice. The extra-time goals drove the fans back to the memory lane when late victories were common under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Hojlund used the social media platform, Instagram, to pay tribute to the United fanbase for their role in the victory. He said:
“Old Trafford Thanks for the reception! Ones again, we couldnt have done it without you!”
United signed the 20-year-old for £72m from Serie A side Atalanta during the summer transfer window. Hojlund has been a United fan himself since his childhood days in Copenhagen. His own father drove him towards supporting the Red Devils.
The Danish international was unable to score but gave yet another impressive performance for United. Hojlund has been one of the few consistent performers for the team that is struggling a lot.
United have endured a nightmare start to the season, losing six out of the 11 games in all competition. The Red Devils would be hoping that the dramatic comeback can act as a catalyst to give them momentum.
United’s attack has faced scrutiny from the critics and fanbase for their under-performance with only Hojlund dodging the ire. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have been struggling with their form this season.

The Old Trafford crowd sarcastically cheered Rashford‘s substitution due to his inability to make any impact. McTominay’s two goals acted as a saving grace for the club which needs its forwards to contribute more. However, the Red Devils have full faith in Hojlund to add goals to his impressive performances.
