Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund admits that they are in “crisis”
Speaking in an interview as quoted by the Mirror, Rasmus Hojlund acknowledged that Manchester United are in “crisis” as a result of their most recent humbling loss to Turkish side Galatasaray.
This is the first time in the club’s history that they have failed to gather points from the first two games in the prestigious Champions League competition. Despite Hojlund scoring twice, the hosts managed to win 3-2.
Coming into the match, it was a must-win of sorts for both teams as they had been humbled in their opening round of matches by their respective opponents. Hojlund who seems to have started off like he was meant to be here admitted being worried about a “crisis”.
Hojlund told CBS Sports (h/t Mirror):
“It’s hard to tell. I think we need to build a better togetherness and to build this confidence in the group again. Right now we need to improve together and stick together, that’s the only way we can get out of this crisis.”
“You can say so [a lack of confidence]. It’s about being proud and fighting for the badge. We need to deliver more and deliver more to our fans and give more back to the club.”
Despite just joining the club, Hojlund seems to be more aware of the weight of the badge. He was terrific against the Turkish side scoring two brilliant goals. So far this season he’s been a stand-out performer for the club.
United’s defensive side of things though yet again looked bleak. Every time the Dane scored to give us the lead, the visiting team found a way to exploit our meek defence and pull back, only to eventually go ahead. This was even evident in the first game of this competition when United lost 4-3 to Bayern Munich.
Speaking to MUTV, Hojlund said:
“We need to remember we can’t [concede] goals right after we score. We [have] had a few games now where they just score, after we scored. So we want to go back and analyse that tomorrow and talk about it in the group.
Andre Onana has not been the player Man United expected him to be when they signed him. He has been struggling a fair bit. The same can be said about players like Mason Mount. Even Sofyan Amrabat after an impressive start has faded away.

The potential this United team has is immense but there is still a long way to go. The defence though needs strengthening as soon as possible. Will Erik ten Hag be around long enough to see that happen?
