Roy Keane helps Jadon Sancho amidst his Manchester United dilemma
According to Metro, former Manchester United defender Roy Keane has helped Jadon Sancho with advice to regain his place in Erik ten Hag’s team and restart his career at the club.
After publicly criticizing Erik ten Hag following being left out of the squad for the Arsenal Premier League clash earlier this month, Sancho has been banished from the first team picture.
Sancho’s future at Old Trafford currently appears grim, and his return to the first-team roster is not on the cards at the moment. According to Stick to Football (h/t Metro) Roy Keane said:
“I don’t think he is training right. I have no issue with his personality.”
“I am not bothered about that [a player being withdrawn], the one thing we don’t really forgive a player for… we have all worked with players who have come in, they can be grumpy or whatever, but when they are training, they are training properly.”
“I’d be embarrassed, I’d be ashamed of my life if the manager ever came up to me, or even spoke through the media because you get over that stuff.”
“People say you can’t say stuff about the players through the media, yes you can, you can send messages out to people.”
After refusing to accept responsibility for his words on Ten Hag, Sancho received a temporary ban from the club’s first-team facilities, was forced to eat with academy players, and was forced to train alone.
The work Keane is doing is just fantastic and motivating at the same time. He is familiar with how the club runs because he has been a member. No player is above the club and Sancho needs to start realising that.
People should be informed of their opinions, but in Sancho’s instance, the way he did it is what hurts. Last season for United, Sancho contributed just 7 goals and 3 assists. It’s too little for a player as talented as him but the Dutch coach kept his faith.
If Sancho felt that Ten Hag’s comments were not accurate, he could have let him know in private. Irrespective of whether the Dutch coach is right or wrong, a coach’s word is always final and Sancho is experiencing the hardships of not knowing that.

Following Man United’s 3-0 Carabao Cup victory against Crystal Palace on Tuesday, Ten Hag declined to comment on Sancho’s future, claiming he will never talk about players “who are not available.” It is clear that the Dutch manager does not take any prisoners and he is not going to start with Sancho.
