Manchester United now knows the extent of Sofyan Amrabat’s injury.
Manchester United have gotten the clarity about the injury scare that Sofyan Amrabat has faced. The 27-year-old flew out to play for his country, Morocco, for the African Cup of Nations qualifications.
The Athletic previously claimed that United pushed through the deal despite an injury detected during Amrabat’s medical. It would appear that he is still not back to his best.
The Red Devils signed the Moroccan international from Fiorentina on a season-long loan deal. The deal was worth £8.5million and it has the option to buy him for the price of around £17m.
Morocco announced that Amrabat will not play the upcoming games for them in the international break. Moroccan journalist Izem Anass stated that Moroccan management is simply not taking risks with one of their pivotal players.
Amrabat’s injury is not serious and the rest will help him return to the Red Devils in better shape. United manager Erik ten Hag is facing an injury crisis alongside a crisis in the team’s form. Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Mason Mount are among the list of injured players.
Lisandro Martinez suffered a foot injury in a 3-1 loss against Arsenal. The defender did not participate for his nation, Argentina. Martinez is also expected to be fit once Premier League action restarts after the international break.
Manchester United find themselves at 11th position in the Premier League. Ten Hag’s team struggled to find form and showed vulnerabilities in certain areas of the field. One of the areas was the midfield where they lacked energy and drive to keep up with their competition.
The Dutch manager gave Amrabat the opportunity for first-team football when Ten Hag was managing Utrecht. Amrabat came from the Utrecht youth system after impressing the manager.
United plays Brighton and Hove Albion once the international break ends. Subsequently, the Red Devils will travel to play against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Ten Hag and United fans would hope that any injury issues that Amrabat faced will be behind him once club football restarts. Signing him on even with an active injury was a risk the club were willing to take. Hopefully, it will not end up making them look stupid.
