Fulham could make a renewed push to sign Manchester United star Scott McTominay in January
According to The Evening Standard (h/t The Express), Fulham could make a renewed push to land Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay in the 2024 January transfer window.
The Scottish international has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and was put on sale last summer. Despite attracting interest from West Ham United, Bayern Munich and Fulham, McTominay stay put and will now take to the field as a Red Devils star.
However, it could prove to be a temporary arrangement should Fulham return in January. Fulham could return should Bayern Munich make a renewed effort to land Palhinha after missing out on him last summer.
At 26, McTominay is in the prime of his career and is a proven talent in the Premier League. While he might have fallen out of favour at Old Trafford, he remains a top talent capable of doing an excellent job for several other top-flight sides.
Physically robust, he also has a keen eye for goals and can get forward when needed. While he might not be a defensive colossus like Palhinha, McTominay is a better option going forward and should add more dynamism to Marco Silva’s side.
Selling the player should bring in a transfer fee for the Red Devils but it will also leave the door open for them to sign another midfielder. Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat both have their injury concerns and might not be reliable options to last the course of a season.
More so, the latter is only on loan and it isn’t set in stone yet that he is committed to the club in the long run. Surely Erik ten Hag and Co will understand that we cannot go into the business end of the campaign a man short.

McTominay is a very experienced player whose talents are well-suited to that of a Premier League team. Given that he is unlikely to be a regular starter for us, it makes sense for all parties that he is allowed to move on to greener pastures in January.
