Manchester United open to signing another midfielder this summer
Manchester United are open to signing another midfielder in the ongoing transfer window to bolster the middle of the park, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The Red Devils are still interested in adding reinforcements to the engine room in the coming days. It remains to be seen who the Old Trafford side will end up opting to acquire the services of.
Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch is one of the names on the United’s shortlist. Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina is also on the Red Devils’ radar. However, the Old Trafford side will face competition from Liverpool for the Moroccan.
As for our current options in the middle of the park, Casemiro has been a rock in the engine room. However, we do not seem to have adequate cover for the former Real Madrid star on the bench.
Fred was sold to Fenerbahce this summer. On the other hand, Scott McTominay has been inconsistent for United over the years. The Scotland international’s future at the club is uncertain at the moment.
The Red Devils did sign Mason Mount from Chelsea to add quality and depth to the middle of the park in the ongoing transfer window. Unfortunately, the England international has not had the best start to life at the Old Trafford side and is currently sidelined.
Kobbie Mainoo put in some encouraging displays during the pre-season. However, he picked up an ankle injury and will be out of action until mid-September.
United also have Christian Eriksen in their ranks. The Danish national found the back of the net in our 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on 26 August. But in the previous campaign, the 31-year-old struggled to complete 90 minutes in most matches.
