Tottenham Hotspur outcast Sergio Reguilon on Manchester United radar
Manchester United are looking to acquire the services of Tottenham Hotspur outcast Sergio Reguilon this summer, according to The Telegraph.
The Spain international is one of the names on the Red Devil’s list to bolster the left-back position in the coming days. As things stand, Luke Shaw is set to be out of action until November. On the other hand, the former Southampton star’s deputy, Tyrell Malacia, is also on the sidelines with a knee injury.
Therefore, the Old Trafford side evidently need reinforcements in the backline. To that end, Reguilon could make his way to the Manchester-based club in the ongoing transfer window.
However, United will face competition from Fulham to get a hold of the 26-year-old’s signature. Spurs are willing to part ways with the Spaniard, who has failed to impress over the years.
In the summer of 2020, the Red Devils were interested in Reguilon after his stellar season on loan at Sevilla. However, in the end, Tottenham beat us to the punch and signed him from Real Madrid.
But the Old Trafford side did not arguably miss out on much. After two underwhelming campaigns in North London, the left-back spent the 2022/23 term on loan at Atletico Madrid, where game time was rare for him.
Apart from the Spaniard, Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella and Barcelona defender Marcos Alonso are also being considered by United. But it remains to be seen who the Red Devils will end up signing.
In our previous fixture against Nottingham Forest on 26 August in the Premier League at home, Diogo Dalot started as the left-back. The Portugal international has played in that position on several occasions under Erik ten Hag.

However, we are seemingly one injury away from a crisis in our backline. Thus, the addition of a player for the left-hand side of the defence looks necessary. But the options the Old Trafford side have on their list are not inspiring ones.
