Paris Saint-Germain submits a fresh offer for Bayer Leverkusen striker Randal Kolo Muani amid Manchester United links
According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have submitted an improved bid for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani amid previous interest from Manchester United.
Previously, the French champions had an offer rejected, with Frankfurt demanding a higher fee for their player.
This comes as PSG have already made attacking signings this summer, including Goncalo Ramos, Ousmane Dembele, and Marco Asensio, following the departures of Lionel Messi and Neymar.
They are now working hard to secure the services of French star Kolo Muani, even as they plan to keep Kylian Mbappe for at least one more year.
The Ligue 1 giants have recently made a new bid of €80 million (£68.7 million) inclusive of bonuses for the 24-year-old striker. The striker is eager to move to Paris, and he wants the deal to be completed quickly.
Frankfurt are standing firm on their €100m (£85.9m) asking price for their prized asset, although this fee is seen as highly unrealistic.
Meanwhile, Man United had shown interest in signing Kolo Muani earlier in the transfer window. However, they decided to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta BC instead, as they were unable to meet the latter’s extremely high price tag.
Erik Ten Hag had identified such top targets for the summer transfer window, including high-profile players.
Unfortunately, financial problems have led United to abandon their pursuit of these well-known players. Kolo Muani has generated more excitement because of his impressive performance in the Bundesliga last season.
However, the Red Devils are no longer in the running for Kolo Muani after they spent £72m on Hojlund. It was difficult for them to add a little more and sign the French star. Hence, they preferred to sign the Danish striker.
Unfortunately, Hojlund has been sidelined with a back injury since his arrival, and United have struggled in their early-season matches, highlighting the need for a sharp striker in the line-up.
Ten Hag would want the 20-year-old to regain fitness quickly, as the team has been lacking a focal point in attack in the early games of the season.
