Nottingham Forest set sights on SL Benfica shot-stopper and Manchester United target Odysseas Vlachodimos
Manchester United and SL Benfica shot-stopper Odysseas Vlachodimos is attracting interest from Nottingham Forest this summer, according to Portuguese outlet O Jogo.
The Greece international has been linked with a move away from the Primeira Liga outfit in the ongoing transfer window. Roger Schmidt and the shot-stopper have had a falling out.
As a result, the goalkeeper’s future at the Eagles is uncertain. The Tricky Trees are looking to bolster the position in between the sticks in the coming days. To that end, the City Ground side have the 29-year-old on their radar.
Earlier this summer, United had made an approach to acquire the services of Vlachodimos from Benfica. However, the two parties were unable to come to a consensus regarding a move.
Subsequently, the Red Devils turned their attention to Altay Bayindir of Fenerbahce and are set to sign him. The Turkish national was also a target for Forest.
Croatia’s Dominic Livakovic, who joined the Super Lig outfit was also an option for the Tricky Trees. Also, Steve Cooper’s team had their eyes on Dean Henderson as well. But the English national looks to be on his way to Crystal Palace.
Vlachodimos has been the number one at Benfica for several seasons now. In the previous campaign, the Greek national was a key player for Schmidt’s team as they dominated the Portuguese league.
At United, Andre Onana was signed from Inter Milan to replace David de Gea this summer. The Cameroonian seems like the new number one at the Old Trafford side. We also have Tom Heaton in our ranks to provide backup.
