Napoli join race for Manchester United target and Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat
Manchester United have been joined by Napoli in the race for Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat in the ongoing transfer window, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport via CalcioNapoli24 (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Serie A champions are looking to acquire the Morocco international’s services this summer. To that end, the Partenopei are considering a move for the midfielder in the coming days.
As things stand, the Red Devils are also interested in the 26-year-old, who is waiting for a bid from the Old Trafford side. But with a few days left in the transfer window, he could end up opting for a move to Naples.
It remains to be seen what the future will hold for Amrabat. United were linked with a move for him in January as well. However, the Red Devils’ attempts to get a hold of the midfielder’s signature were rebuffed back then.
The Moroccan has been at Fiorentina since 2020. However, it was in the previous campaign that he caught a lot of people’s attention with some impressive displays in the World Cup.
In Qatar, Amrabat was a key player for Walid Regragui’s team as they made it to the semi-finals. Subsequently, the midfielder also reached the UEFA Europa Conference League final with the Viola.
At United, Casemiro has not looked sharp in the first few games of the new season. In the previous campaign, Erik ten Hag had to rely heavily on the Brazilian.
Without the former Real Madrid star in the team, the Red Devils struggled for results in the 2022/23 term. Fred has left for Fenerbahce this summer, while Scott McTominay has not been the most consistent of players for the Old Trafford side over the years.

Therefore, we could evidently do with someone of Amrabat’s skillset in our ranks. However, whether the Manchester-based club will end up signing him ahead of Napoli will be interesting to see.
