Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is set to sign for Manchester United after completing medical checks in Athens
According to Turkish source Haber Turk, Fenerbahce’s goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir, is set to travel to England to finalise a transfer to Manchester United this summer.
On Tuesday, United conducted a preliminary medical test on the 25-year-old, which he successfully cleared.
The two clubs have now come to an agreement for a €5 million deal, and it’s expected that Bayindir will soon travel to England to officially join the Red Devils.
Fenerbahce have already secured a replacement for their Turkish international goalkeeper. They are in talks to rope in Dominik Livakovic from Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb.
Meanwhile, Man United currently has Andre Onana as their top-choice goalkeeper, with Dean Henderson serving as the backup. However, Henderson’s future at the club is uncertain.
Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are interested in the English shot-stopper, who is eager to leave Old Trafford to secure regular first-team opportunities.
Hence, United have identified Bayindir as his potential successor. Given his modern style of goalkeeping, the Turkish star appears to be a good fit for manager Erik ten Hag’s tactics.
During the previous season, the experienced goalkeeper participated in 40 matches across various competitions for Fenerbahce, contributing significantly as his team secured a second-place finish in the Super Lig.
Additionally, he played a pivotal role in his parent club’s Turkish Cup victory and their journey to the Round of 16 in the Europa League, where they were ultimately eliminated by Sevilla. Last season, Bayindir stood out for his great passing range and his sweeper-keeper skills.
However, it’s worth noting that he can sometimes make inconsistent decisions. Despite this, he should be a valuable addition, especially for Carabao and FA Cup fixtures.
Compared to Benfica’s Odysseas Vlachodimos, Bayindir offers a more dynamic style of play and is a preferable choice, as the former tends to adopt a more traditional approach with limited involvement outside of his penalty area.

Considering United’s limited choices in the goalkeeper position, the Super Lig star appears to be a suitable candidate for Ten Hag, capable of serving as a backup for Onana. At this moment, it seems that it is only a matter of days until the deal is fully completed.
