Manchester United are still interested in OGC Nice defender Jean Claire-Todibo but a deal is dependent on outgoings

According to French outlet L’Equipe via TeamTalk (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are still interested in OGC Nice Jean Clair-Todibo as long as they are able to offload one central defender.

Todibo has been doing well at Nice since joining them permanently from Barcelona in the summer of 2021. He has played 71 games in the French league since the start of the 2021-22 season.

It seems like United are not done in the transfer market and would be on the lookout for additions before the transfer window shuts.

One of the priority positions is central midfield while there are talks of a backup goalkeeper also coming in with Dean Henderson making a permanent exit from the club.

The club are also active in terms of bringing in a central defender as long as they are able to offload one from their books before the transfer window.

Out of all the central defenders in the club, it seems like Harry Maguire would be the only player whom Erik Ten Hag would not want to sacrifice to bring a new face in.

On top of that, Maguire could still provide some valuable fees which could further be used to make the addition to the squad.

With the England International’s move to West Ham United completely off while the London club just confirmed their centre-back signing of Konstantinos Mavropanos from Olympiacos, it remains to be seen whether there would be any more teams interested in signing Maguire.

It is also being claimed that Johnny Evans might be returning to Old Trafford on a short-term deal which could further propel Maguire down the pecking order.

It is highly doubtful that Maguire would get enough minutes under his belt this season which could directly impact his chances of getting selected for the Euros 2024 Championships.

The best outcome for all parties involved would be to end ties and move in different directions. It would be interesting to see how Maguire’s future unfolds in the coming days and whether the club would be able to bring in a replacement.
