Atletico Madrid reignites their interest in Manchester United-linked midfielder Sofyan Amrabat

According to Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Atletico Madrid have rekindle their interest in Manchester United-linked midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Amrabat is speculated to leave Fiorentina in this transfer window with just one year remaining on his contract and the player showing no signs of signing an extension.

Manchester United have been closely linked with the player and the midfielder is also keen on the move. However, the Red Devils are yet to make a formal approach which has irritated Fiorentina as there are only a few days left in the transfer window.

Now to add more competition to the pursuit, Atletico Madrid have reignited their interest in the player, whom they were very keen on signing in January and the player was also happy to be on board.

It could prove to be a hurdle for United as personal terms would not presumably be a problem for Atletico. So if there is a situation where the Spanish club agrees to pay Fiorentina their desired fee, United could end up losing one more key target.

We have already lost Kim Min-Jae to FC Bayern Munich while recently linked Benjamin Pavard is also close to joining Inter Milan.

Out of all the mentioned players, losing Amrabat would hurt the most as he is exactly the type of player we need to solve our midfield conundrum.

Our current midfield lacks the basic balance to play in the high-intensity and transition-driven Premier League and we need a proper 6 to complement Casemiro.

Amrabat is exactly that type of player and that is why there is a fear that United would not be able to do the deal. Maybe the recent injury to Mason Mount suffered against Tottenham Hotspur forces the club’s hands to initiate their formal interest.

It has to be right now as there is no more time to lose and with more teams interested, the midfielder would not wait for too long before he agrees to switch somewhere else.
