Liverpool agree terms with Fiorentina midfielder and Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat
Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat has agreed personal terms with Premier League rivals Liverpool amidst interest from Manchester United, according to El Nacional (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Merseyside outfit are looking to acquire the services of the Morocco international in the ongoing transfer window. To that end, the Anfield side are ‘very close’ to getting a hold of his signature.
However, the Red Devils have also been linked with a move for the midfielder this summer. But it seems like the Old Trafford side are set to miss out on the 26-year-old.
In order to pursue a move for Amrabat, United need to sell some players first. Now, Liverpool are ‘one step away’ from signing him. Has the Red Devils delay allowed the Merseyside outfit to get ahead of them in the race for the midfielder? It remains to be seen.
Having signed for Fiorentina in 2020, the Moroccan has only arguably come into the limelight over the last year. His performances in the 2022 World Cup caught a lot of people’s attention.
Amrabat is a robust midfielder who did well supporting the Viola’s defence in the previous campaign. United evidently already have a player similar to the Moroccan in Casemiro.
Last summer, the former Real Marid star made his way to the Premier League. In the 31-year-old’s debut season, the midfielder established himself as a key player in Erik ten Hag’s success.
However, the Red Devils seem to lack cover for the Brazil international. In his absence, the likes of Scott McTominay and Fred were unable to live up to the mark in the 2022/23 term.

Therefore, we could evidently do with someone like Amrabat in our squad. However, at the Old Trafford side, the competition for places is intense. On the other hand, Liverpool are looking to bolster their engine room after the departure of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. Thus, will the Moroccan snub the Manchester-based club? Only time will tell.
