Manchester United might rekindle their interest in Joao Felix
According to La Sexta (h/t The Express), Premier League giants Manchester United could reignite their interest in Portuguese star Joao Felix.
The young attacker was one of the world’s most sought out players during his time at Benfica, even winning the UEFA Golden Boy award in 2019. This earned him a multi-million dollar move to Atletico Madrid, who appeared to have got themselves a real coup.
However, the move to Spain has not worked out and Felix is now out of favour with manager Diego Simeone. At just 23, he is now in need of a fresh challenge and a new beginning elsewhere.
Atletico were keen to loan out the player last January with Man United among those interested. He eventually arrived at Chelsea and enjoyed a mixed set of fortunes in Blue. To his credit, the youngster showed flashes of brilliance that could be brought out under the right manager.
Despite returning to Atletico this summer, Felix continues to be at odds with the club. His representatives are currently trying to terminate his contract, ensuring he will enter the transfer market as a free agent.
Erik ten Hag is in need of another attacker and Felix fits the bill. It will also give him an alternative to Mason Greenwood, whose controversial reinstatement has found few takers.
The last thing the Red Devils need now is for public opinion to go against them. While Greenwood might be talented, we are sure the club can find other alternatives who are equally good but without the baggage.
The player is keen on a move and his relationship with the Atletico faithful appears to have reached a point of no return. Whether the Spaniards will entertain his request to terminate the contract, given they paid £113million for his services just four years ago.
