Everton not contacted by Manchester United for midfielder Amadou Onana
Manchester United have not made an enquiry recently regarding the acquisition of Amadou Onana from Everton this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.
However, the Red Devils are interested in the Belgium international. But the Old Trafford side would need to ‘break the bank’ to get a hold of his signature from the Goodison Park side.
As things stand, the Merseyside outfit are not looking to part ways with the midfielder in the ongoing transfer window. The Toffees value the 22-year-old higher than Romeo Lavia.
The former Manchester City star is close to making a switch to Premier League rivals Chelsea from Southampton for £60 million. Therefore, United will have to pay more than that if they intend to sign him.
Everton signed Onana last summer from OGC Nice. The midfielder enjoyed an impressive debut campaign at the Goodison Park side. Sean Dyche’s team have immense faith in the Belgian and believe he could develop into a better player than Moises Caicedo.
At United, the middle of the park consists of the likes of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, who were Erik ten Hag’s go-to players last season. However, the former Real Madrid star and the Danish national are not getting any younger.
Also, we lack decent cover for the Brazil international in our ranks. Scott McTominay has been inconsistent over the years, while Donny van de Beek has been on the sidelines a lot. Therefore, we could do with additional reinforcements in the engine room apart from Mason Mount after parting ways with Fred, who joined Fenerbahce recently.

Onana is still young and has proven his capabilities in the English top flight. The Premier League has not overwhelmed the Belgian. But will the Old Trafford side make a concrete offer to sign him in the coming weeks? Only time will tell.
