Ansu Fati linked with Manchester United amidst Barcelona uncertainty
Barcelona star Ansu Fati has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer amidst uncertainty regarding his role under Xavi, according to AS (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have been associated with acquiring the Spain international’s services in the ongoing transfer window. However, Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also in the race to get a hold of his signature.
As things stand, the 20-year-old does not feel that he is a valued member of the Blaugrana’s squad. Therefore, it remains to be seen what the youngster will decide regarding his future.
Fati made his way through the famous Barcelona youth academy and broke onto the scene in the 2019/20 term. Unfortunately, injuries derailed the youngster’s progress for some time.
However, the Spaniard seemed to be back to full fitness in the previous campaign. But Xavi did not trust the forward often in the starting lineup.
Fati started in only 12 La Liga matches for the Blaugrana in the 2022/23 term. He came on for the final 10 minutes of the Spanish giants’ 0-0 against Getafe on 13 August in the league.
As for United, we have enough depth on the left wing for now. However, what we do evidently lack is a number nine. Marcus Rashford was deployed as a striker against Wolverhampton Wanderers in our first game of the new season and left a lot to be desired.
Therefore, it would be wise for us to focus on bolstering the number nine position. While Rasmus Hojlund has been signed from Atalanta, the Danish national is out injured at the moment. Anthony Martial is not a reliable option considering his past issues with injuries.
