Manchester United working on departures to focus on Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat transfer
In the ongoing transfer window, Manchester United are working on selling some players before pursuing Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat, according to Italian outlet La Repubblica.
The Red Devils are interested in acquiring the services of the Morocco international this summer. However, before making an attempt to get a hold of his signature, the Old Trafford side are planning on completing a few departures from the squad.
United are not expected to find it difficult to come to an agreement with the midfielder on personal terms. However, the Viola want around €30 million to part ways with the 26-year-old.
Fiorentina signed Amrabat in 2020. He made his way through the youth ranks at FC Utrecht before finding himself in Italy via Club Brugge.
At the Florence-based club, the midfielder has been a key player for them over the years. However, the 26-year-old has caught a lot of people’s attention in the last year.
At the 2022 World Cup, Amrabat shone for Morocco. The Atlas Lions made it to the semi-finals of the prestigious tournament in Qatar. The midfielder also reached the UEFA Europa Conference League final with the Viola.
As things stand, United have Casemiro in their ranks as their holding midfielder. The Brazil international has cemented his place in the team under Erik ten Hag.
However, last season, the Old Trafford side struggled to get positive results in the absence of the former Real Madrid star. The likes of Fred and Scott McTominay were unable to provide adequate cover in the 31-year-old’s absence.
