Brother of Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount hits out at talkSPORT for debut post

Lewis Mount, the brother of Manchester United star Mason Mount, hit out at talkSPORT for their post on the midfielder’s debut for the club.

The England international did not have the best of starts to life as a Red Devil. Erik ten Hag started the 24-year-old in our first Premier League game of the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford. Unfortunately, he failed to impress.

Subsequently, Mount’s statistics for the game were published by talkSport on Twitter. It read:

“Mason Mount’s Premier League debut for Manchester United: 0 goals, 0 assists, 0 chances created, 0 crosses, 0 tackles won, 0 aerial duels won…”

The criticism was not taken well by Lewis, who expressed his anger on an Instagram story (h/t Express). Mason’s brother blasted talkSport and urged people to be more mindful about their posts.

“I’ve tried to let this go all day. But honestly, shame on you @talksport. These players, no, these PEOPLE get enough abuse without you adding fuel to the fire.”

It is understandable that Lewis was not too pleased. It was only the English national’s first outing in a new setup. Having made his way through the youth ranks at Chelsea, the midfielder had played for the Blues for the majority of his career.

Therefore, it will evidently take time for Mason to get used to Erik ten Hag’s ideas and United’s style of play. The midfielder is arguably not a popular figure at the moment in the Stamford Bridge side’s fanbase due to his departure.

Also, apart from the English national, other players in the team did not perform up to the mark either against Wolves. Casemiro struggled to cope with the Molineux Stadium side’s attackers, while Bruno Fernandes was unable to make much of an impact either.

United signed Mason in the ongoing transfer window. He had been one of the best players at Chelsea in recent seasons. Hopefully, the midfielder will come good at the Old Trafford side as well.
