Manchester United scouts were in attendance to watch OGC Nice defender Jean Claude-Todibo
According to Fabrizio Romano via Twitter, Manchester United officials were in attendance to watch Jean Claude-Todibo in action for OGC Nice against Lille in the French league.
He played the full 90 minutes at centre-back as his team were held to a 1-1 draw at home. He made seven clearances, four recoveries, completed 87% of his passes and won 3 of his 5 duels (h/t FotMob).
With Harry Maguire’s move to West Ham United almost in the end stages, United are already looking at defenders to replace the former club captain.
There are a few names on the list but the one which is gaining significant relevance in recent days is Nice Defender Todibo.
Todibo, 23, is a former graduate of FC Barcelona and has built a good name for himself in the Ligue 1 since moving to Nice and has been one of the stalwarts of the club.
Now, United are keen to add another top centre-back profile to replace Maguire mainly due to the fixture congestion and also the injury issues with Raphael Varane where they would need an able substitute.
Todibo, also a French international, could be a very shrewd signing for the club and be the ready-made replacement for Varane in the coming seasons.
He is young, dynamic and is known for his speed and aggressive defending, he could be a really good pick if integrated well into the squad.
Till the finer details of Maguire’s move to West Ham are not sorted out, it seems like it would be tough for the club to do a deal whilst they are also in the midst of working a deal towards Sofyan Amrabat.
