Serie A giants Juventus have emerged as ‘frontrunners’ to sign Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, according to Sport Mediaset (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the Morocco international in the ongoing transfer window. Erik ten Hag admires the midfielder and wants to add him to the Old Trafford side’s ranks this summer.

However, the Old Lady are looking to pip United to the 26-year-old’s signature. They will have the space to sign him after selling Denis Zakaria. The former Chelsea loanee is on the verge of joining AS Monaco in the coming weeks.

Fiorentina have set a €30 million price tag on Amrabat’s head. Juventus plan to include a player in a potential deal to lower the midfielder’s valuation.

The Moroccan has been impressive over the last year. He was a key player for the Atlas Lions as they made it to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar.

Amrabat also put in some clutch displays for the Viola last season as they made it to the UEFA Europa Conference League final. However, the Florence-based club lost to West Ham United.

At Man United, the number six position was occupied by Casemiro for the majority of the 2022/23 term. The Brazil international has brought much-needed quality to our engine room.

Unfortunately, we seem to lack a capable deputy for the former Real Madrid star. Without the 31-year-old last season, the Red Devils struggled to get positive results. Scott McTominay and Fred were unable to provide cover in the defensive midfield position last season.

Therefore, it seems wise to get someone like Amrabat to Manchester. However, will the Moroccan want to move to a team where competition for places is high? Only time will tell.
