Real Sociedad make ‘formal contact’ to sign Donny van de Beek from Manchester United
Manchester United star Donny van de Beek is attracting interest from Real Sociedad, who have made ‘formal contact’ for him, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The La Liga outfit are looking to acquire the Holland international’s services this summer. To that end, they have gotten in touch with the Red Devils after speaking with the midfielder earlier.
La Real have made an approach for the 26-year-old. However, any deal will depend on the formula and conditions that the Old Trafford side will decide.
Under Imanol Alguacil, the Reale Arena side thrived last season. They finished fourth in the league table. As a result, the Spanish outfit will be playing Champions League football in the upcoming campaign.
United signed Van de Beek in the summer of 2020 from Ajax Amsterdam. The Holland national’s time at the Red Devils has been marred by injuries and he has not played much for us over the years.
In the previous campaign, with the arrival of Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford side’s dugout, it felt like things could turn around for the midfielder. Unfortunately, he was unable to make a mark under the Dutch manager in the 2022/23 term.
Van de Beek thrived under the gaffer in the Netherlands. Sadly, experiencing small niggles initially last season, the Holland national picked up a long-term injury in January 2023.
The midfielder has been back for the pre-season and scored in our friendly against Olympique Lyon in Scotland. However, he will have to compete with the likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Mason Mount and Scott McTominay in the upcoming campaign for minutes.
