Matej Kovar valued at £6 million by Manchester United amidst Aston Villa and Cadiz interest
Manchester United have placed a £6 million valuation on Matej Kovar this summer amidst interest from Aston Villa and Cadiz, according to Czech outlet Sport (h/t Express).
The Red Devils are open to parting ways with the shot-stopper in the ongoing transfer window. However, it remains to be seen whether it will be another loan spell or a permanent move.
As things stand, the Villans are looking to bolster their goalkeeping ranks. To that end, the Lions have set their sights on the Red Devils’ 23-year-old to provide cover for Emiliano Martinez.
For now, the Hampshire-based club also have Robin Olsen in their ranks. However, Unai Emery’s team are looking for an upgrade and have Kovar on their radar.
However, Cadiz have also been linked with the Czech national. The La Liga outfit have managed to survive the drop in the Spanish top flight for three seasons in a row now. Conan Ledesma was their first-choice shot-stopper last season.
United signed Kovar in the winter window of 2018, and since then, he has mostly played for the reserve side. The young goalkeeper has also spent a few spells out on loan. In the previous campaign, the Czech national enjoyed regular game time at Sparta Prague.
At the Old Trafford side, Andre Onana has been signed this summer to replace David de Gea, who departed at the end of June. The Cameroonian will seemingly be our number one in the 2023/24 term.
Erik ten Hag also has Tom Heaton at his disposal. The English national has featured heavily during pre-season. But it remains to be seen what the future will hold for Dean Henderson at the Old Trafford side. He has been linked with a move back to Nottingham Forest.

Kovar is getting to the age where he arguably needs competitive action to develop. That will evidently be difficult to attain at United. Therefore, a move away seems like the right option.
