Rasmus Hojlund will fly to Manchester on Tuesday undergo a medical ahead of the Manchester United move
According to David Ornstein for the Athletic (subscription required), Danish international Rasmus Hojlund is due to fly to Manchester on Tuesday to undergo a medical ahead of his Manchester United move.
United reached an agreement with Atalanta for a deal worth around €75m plus €10m add-ons based on performance over the weekend to sign the 20-year-old.
Personal terms are agreed and the player will sign a five-year contract with the Red Devils. An option to extend by a year is there as well.
If all things go to plan, Hojlund will become United’s third addition in this summer window after Mason Mount and Andre Onana.
Erik ten Hag must be happy with the business the club has done so far. After signing a goalkeeper and a midfielder, they are close to adding a striker to strengthen the spine of the squad before the start of the season.
But, there might be a case for the manager to give Hojlund some time to settle down here and get used to the pace of the Premier League.
The 20-year-old only had one season with Atalanta since arriving from Austrian club Sturm Graz last summer.
Moreover, he played only 1897 minutes for the Italian side, scoring 10 goals and assisting four (Transfermarkt). What it tells us is that he is still a product in the process of becoming elite.
The Dane’s international record is pretty good though. Having made his senior debut last September, Hojlund has scored six goals in six appearances.

While it may sound weird that United are spending that much on an undercooked player, let’s keep in mind that he is only 20 years old and will only get better from here. If things go well, he could be leading the line for several years to come.
