Louis Saha believes that the signing of Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina would improve Manchester United
While speaking to Betfred (h/t Manchester Evening News), former Manchester United player Louis Saha believes that the signing of 26-year-old Sofyan Amrabat would definitely improve Manchester United and names one crucial aspect in that regard.
Amrabat has been linked with a move to United with Erik Ten Hag keen to reunite with the midfielder he managed at FC Utrecht.
The Moroccan midfielder is also keen on the move but a lot of whether the move materialises or not will depend on United’s outgoings, as after the signing of Rasmus Hojlund, they need to raise funds before they can secure more signings.
Saha believes that United should go all out for Amrabat and that this particular signing would improve the team heading into the 2023/24 season.
“Amrabat is a player that I really like and he’s got a great intensity level that I don’t believe is matched. It would be exciting to see him at United and he would improve the overall balance of the squad.”
It is true that the potential signing of Amrabat has got a lot of people excited, especially after the wonderful year he had with the national team as well as on the club level.
Fiorentina, in an ideal world, would not want to sell their star midfielder but the player has not given any inclination to sign a contract extension which ends next year in June 2024.
Hence, this window provides the perfect opportunity for the Serie A side to recoup some money for the player or else risk losing him out on a free transfer.
United are strong contenders to sign the player but it would not be immediate as the club will concentrate on outgoings first after completing the signing of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta BC.
Injury to youngster Kobbie Mainoo could further show the need for the club to sign another midfielder and Amarbat would be the exact profile needed as he could easily slot in the position alongside Casemiro or even take the Brazilian’s position when he is not playing.
