Rasmus Hojlund set to fly into England on Tuesday to complete Manchester United medical
According to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, Rasmus Hojlund is set to travel to England on Tuesday to undergo a medical at Manchester United as part of his move to the club.
On Sunday, the Red Devils reached an agreement with Atalanta for the transfer of the Danish striker, sealing a £75 million deal (plus £10m in add-ons) after several negotiations between the clubs.
The 20-year-old has been a target for the Premier League club, with manager Erik ten Hag identifying Hojlund as the top transfer priority to address the team’s goal-scoring issues.
The Scandinavian ace was eager to join United and will undergo his medical at the club’s Carrington training complex on Tuesday.
Hojlund has already reached a personal agreement with his dream club and is set to sign a five-year contract with the option for an additional year.
Despite the reduced fee, United will still be paying a significant amount for a player who scored only nine goals in Serie A last season.
Ten Hag clearly sees potential in the young player and believes he can contribute to transforming the club into Premier League title contenders.
He will be eager to start working with Hojlund once United return to Manchester after completing their pre-season tour of America.
The striker’s upcoming medical examination indicates that the English giants have emerged as the victorious club in the race to sign the striker, despite facing competition from Paris Saint-Germain.
As a dedicated fan of the Red Devils, Hojlund has been determined to secure a move to the 13-time Premier League champions ever since they showed interest in him.
Once the deal is finalised, he will become United’s third signing of the summer, following Mason Mount from Chelsea and former Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.
However, it will take time to adjust to the demands of English top-flight football, and Hojlund is expected to be given a period to settle in. However, his arrival could lead to potential changes within the club’s existing attacking options.
Anthony Martial’s injury issues could affect his chances to play, which would benefit the Atalanta ace to gain regular minutes from the start.
