Doubts starting to appear about Dean Henderson moving as Nottingham Forest target Arsenal keeper Matt Turner
As per a tweet (or X) from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Dean Henderson may not move away from Manchester United as his target club Nottingham Forest are interested in Arsenal stopper Matt Turner.
It is revealed that Forest will only sign one keeper in this summer window. So, it is either going to be Henderson or Turner.
A few days ago, Sky Sports reported that the Nottingham-based club are positive about talks with United over the signature of Henderson. It was also updated that the Englishman will be allowed to leave the United pre-season camp in the USA to complete his medical in England.
Here’s the text content of what Romano tweeted:
“Nottingham Forest will sign only one GK this summer between Matt Turner and Dean Henderson. Forest already asked Arsenal for final conditions of Turner deal — and it’d be a permanent transfer.”
Henderson was on loan at Forest last season. He played till January before picking up a thigh injury that eventually ended his campaign.
The 26-year-old was quite vocal about the negatives at United after leaving the club on loan last summer. It seemed clear that he won’t play for the Red Devils again.
But, we are now in a situation where he could stay at Old Trafford. United and Erik ten Hag may not mind it after losing David de Gea for free this summer.
The club has signed Andre Onana to potentially take over the number one slot, but the number two position can be taken by Henderson. If that happens, Tom Heaton could become the third-choice keeper.
Having said that though, will Henderson want to stay on the bench here when he can get a move to a club where regular game time is available? No would be the answer.
