Galatasaray are preparing an improved bid of €10m to sign Fred from Manchester United
As per Turkish outlet Fanatik (h/t Manchester Evening News), Turkish giants Galatasaray are preparing an improved bid worth €10m to sign Manchester United midfielder Fred.
A few days ago, Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Red Devils have rejected an opening bid from the Turkish club. The latest report tells us that the opening bid was worth around €8m.
Romano has also tweeted about this latest development and confirmed that United are looking to sell Fred this summer. It seems like the end of the road for the Brazilian at Old Trafford.
Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has revealed that United will not sign a new midfielder unless there is a departure or two of players from that department. With Fred on the cusp of leaving the club, we could see them accelerating their interest in Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
Fred was a major part of the United setup when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was the manager of the team. Although he has given his all for the club, certain limitations in the game did hamper his progress as an outright first-choice midfielder.
When Erik ten Hag took over last summer, the 30-year-old started seeing less playing time with the first team. The addition of Casmiro was a key reason behind that as well.
Fred’s contract at Old Trafford expires next summer (Transfermarkt). It would not make sense to offer him a new deal.
Once that becomes a certainty, it is better to sell him now rather than lose him for free next summer. His game might suit the Turkish league. Although the league there is not of the highest standard in footballing terms, their fans demand a lot from the players.
